Panorama Recreation Centre

There’s fun and fitness to be had by the whole family at this world-class facility, complete with two swimming pools, hot tubs, and Southern Vancouver Island’s biggest waterslide. Panorama also offers two ice rinks, an aerobics/fitness studio, gymnasium, tennis courts, and racquetball/squash courts.

Food & Drink

This small town has a big appetite, which you can satisfy at the renowned Haro’s Restaurant, Georgia Cafe and Deli and the local favourite for “Killer Cinnamon Buns” the Bakery on Beacon Ave. Wash it down with a fine collection of local micro-brewed beverages, and repeat for that true Sidney lifestyle.

Shaw Centre for the Salish Sea Aquarium

You don’t need scuba gear to get a first-hand look at the beauty that hides beneath the waves, thanks to the hands-on aquarium located right on the Sidney waterfront. Featuring 160 species of marine life, artifact exhibits, and Coast Salish art collections makes this one of Sidney’s premier attractions.

Diver’s Beach

Jacques Cousteau called the Salish Sea “the best temperate water diving in the world.” Divers ever since have been included to agree. “Diver’s Beach” sits conveniently at the foot of Beacon Avenue with the nearby wrecks of the GB Church and HMCS Mackenzie just begging to be explored.

Fun Facts

Booktown
Even today Sidney is packed with bookstores, each with its unique personality and offerings. Canada’s only official “booktown” is dedicated to celebrating local, regional, and national cultures through books. With the carefully curated collections at Beacon Books, Galleon Books & Antiques, Tanner’s Books, and The Haunted bookshop, you’ll find something for every niche of bookworm to get lost in.

Land of Ferries
Sidney isn’t just on the doorstep of the Swartz Bay ferry terminal to Vancouver, BC, it’s also the only Canadian port-of-call in the Washington State Ferry system. Ferries running from Sidney to the San Juan Islands and Anacortes makes it the jumping-off-point for your island-hopping adventures.
